As announced today, Siemens and ubitricity will provide on street residential EV charging infrastructure by retrofitting existing street lights.

Siemens in one of eight organisations to provide innovative on street charging solutions and has partnered with ubitricity to apply ubitricity’s unique MobileCharging System and mobile electricity metering technology. It is unique as it uses the existing street light infrastructure and shared electricity supply, and it takes under an hour to convert a street lamp, reducing cost of deployment and disruption to residents at a fraction of the time to install a separate charging station.

The Go-ultra Low City Scheme framework contract will provide GBP 3,7 million (ca. EUR 4,1 million) to deliver 1.150 charge points by the end of 2020.
